So what can we do?

What can we do?

The only thing you can do is get involved

And get involved in the daily grind of helping people and creating change

I think, in America, too often

We think of solutions as having to be home runs

Big ticket items

We want the app that solves everything with one button-press

Or the GoFundMe where if we raise enough money, we stop racism

But that doesn't happen. That's not how change works

That's not how society works

It takes everyone working, everyday to help people and to create a future that you want

America's government is inefficient by design

It was made that way, so that no one person can seize power quickly

And in 2016, that came in very handy

But because it's so inefficient, it takes a lot of energy to create change

And that energy can only come from the people

The whole idea behind America was government for the people, by the people.

So the people need to get involved for this to work

So get involved in the elections

Presidential elections. State elections. City elections

Even your local community board and school board

Which determines what history is taught in the schools

That can directly affect culture

And support their local Asian-American politician,

Who's fighting for a seat at the decision-making table

Create more than you complain

Support that independent Asian-American artist

Hell, support the popular Asian artist too

Even if you don't like what they are doing

Accept that they are helping change the visibility of Asians in America, in their own way

Look at the long game and the bigger picture

Instead of hating on individuals for the sake of hating

Because the infighting in the community doesn't help

Support the grassroots organizations providing legal support to vulnerable people in the community, and organizing communities politically

We need to attack the problem from within and outside the system, using the existing American government and legal infrastructure-

As well as media, culture and technology

Don't lose hope

There's more good people than bad people
