The Preacher And The Bear

Letra
A preacher went out hunting.

It was on one Sunday morning.

It was against his religion, but he took his gun along.

He shot himself some mighty fine quail and one little beasley hare.

And on his way returning home he met a great big grizzly bear.

The bear marched out to the middle of the road and he waltzed to the preacher you see.

The preacher got so excited that he climbed up a cement tree.

The bear sat down upon the ground and the preacher climbed out on a limb.

He cast his eyes to the God in the skies.

These words he said to him.

I loved him to deliver Daniel from the lion's den.

Also delivered your love from the belly of a whale and dead.

Three Hebrew children from a fiery furnace know the good book to be fair now, Lord.

If you can't help me, for goodness sake, don't you help that bear.

The preacher stayed way up in that tree all day and through the night.

He said, O Lord, if you don't help the day, you'll see one awful fight.

Just about then the limb let go and the picture came toppling down.

In his pocket got a slugging knife out before he hit the ground.

He hit the ground cutting left and right and put up a very good fight.

the bear then hugged the creature he squeezed him a little too tight but the creature lost his hunting

night but the bear held on with a bid he cast his eyes to the god in the skies and once more said to him

My Lord, didn't you deliver Daniel from the lion's den?

Oh, so you delivered Jonah from the belly of the whale and bear.

3D wrote children from the fiery furnace of the good book to declare now.

I'll read the Bible through and through and do what you tell me to do.

I'll pray, pray till the judgment day, and for my sins I'll gladly pay.

But all I ask is, please be fair, because it

If you can't help me now, Lord If you can't help me, for goodness sake

Don't help that man.

For goodness sake, don't you help that man.
