Generational trauma, something I'm tryna heal

I broke free like a bird flying out the cage

Started praying turn the page, when I turn to faith

Now I'm married with a kid, got a life so bright

Gave my life over to God, when I saw his light

The cycle broken, the past is just a story

Now I'm the author, I'm so grateful for his glory

Struggle made me stronger, I'm so grateful for that

Y'all believed in me, I'll make sure that I'm paying you back

Started saying what, so why my people hate me for that

Wasn't in control, my life, I'm finally taking it back

I made mistakes, I knew I had to make it right

Now our kids could grow up, with the love we didn't know

Now I stand tall, I'm so proud of the pain

I build my life up from the mud, so it wasn't in vain

Finally free from your control, and I've learnt to forgive
